Dubioza Kolektiv

Bärenplatz, 2014

It’s no longer quiet and sedate, when the 7-piece band from Bosnia and Herzegovina gathers in St. Gallen’s inner city. Once Dubioza Kolektiv kick off their mind-blowing performance, passers-by get carried away by this sudden burst of energy. The band proves that they don’t need a stage in a common sense to attract an audience. In the old town’s shopping area Dubioza Kolektiv’s fresh take on hip-hop, reggae, dub, rock and Bosnian folklore makes young and old clap, dance and grab their smartphones to document this force of nature.

Bärenplatz

It’s not just Berlin that has a bear as its heraldic animal. Also in St. Gallen you’ll come across a heraldic bear with its distinctive golden collar. In the city center between the pedestrian shopping streets Marktgasse and Spisergasse you’ll even find a square named after bears. A small bear statue overlooks the square with its circle-wise benches that invite you to take a rest and watch the hustle and bustle around, like the Secret Session with the energetic Dubioza Kolektiv.
