The Wave Pictures

Flohschanze, 2012

It is not the first time that we meet David, Franic and Johnny from The Wave Pictures. A few years ago we already met the London-based trio for a filming session in Vienna (https://theyshootmusic.at/semi-acoustic-video-sessions/the-wave-pictures/). Back then the Englishmen performed at some sedate square with noone around. This time the band set to play in the middle of the hustle and bustle of one of Hamburg’s most popular flea markets. The Wave Pictures gather behind a market stall for an intoxicating performance of “Eskimo Kiss” with the backdrop of the massive flak tower, where they are going to play their festival show later that day. Their captivating flea market intermezzo ends with some well-deserved applause!

Flohschanze

Every Saturday one of Hamburg’s liveliest and hippest flea markets takes place around the former slaughterhouse at Neuer Kamp. Situated in the center of the hub around Schanzenviertel and St. Pauli this is the place to be on the weekend for the Hamburger Szene. On a 1200 square metres open air area and some more indoor market space you can find anything from antiques, rummage, furniture, bikes, vinyl or clothing. Apart from vintage and second-hand offers you can also buy new products from various small-sized boutiques either in the market hall or along Marktstraße. Even if you are not up for buying anything, it’s a recommendable hang out spot with many cafés and bars (especially if you stroll along Marktstraße), where you can spend a snugly, yet still animated Saturday.
